Since the Middle Ages, Parisian justice has been dispensed from the building around Sainte-Chapelle on the Île de la Cité. Due to space shortages, many offices were relocated across the city. The new Paris law courts near Porte de Clichy now reunite all courtrooms and offices in one building, while the historic site will continue to house important activities like the Court of Assize and the Court of Appeals.
The design for the new courthouse stands on an L-shaped site, comprising 110,000 square meters. It includes a public base and a tower with three staggered blocks. Fully glazed façades provide views of Paris and Clichy. The building meets high energy efficiency standards and offers public and private spaces, including 90 courtrooms, a public lobby, and multiple gardens.
